When Zebulon Pike and his expedition set out to explore the Arkansas River headwaters, he did not know he would come to the mountain eventually bearing his name. It was an exploration, an adventure with a goal, but not a guaranteed outcome or a perfectly mapped path with their willingness to explore the unknown. That spirit is part of what Fabled Voyages represents. We are not building a short-term vacation experience; we are working on creating a long-term residential community. Our primary focus is for those looking for a future to call the ship their home. Those can also be the recurring seasonal residents who may prefer to spend extended periods aboard, much like snowbirds who follow the seasons.
If this industry offered the kind of enormous profits expected by publicly traded corporations and shareholder-driven businesses, the major players would likely have already entered the market in force. Fabled Voyages vision is led by passionate enthusiasts, not money driven corporations and investors. We anticipate very modest profits, and operating at a near break-even model. There will be no planned expectation for monetary returns. Fabled Voyages envisions functioning more like a cooperative or condominium association, where the company owns and operates the vessel while residents have ownership or contractual rights to their individual residences, depending on the final ownership structure. Within their own living spaces, residents should have the freedom to make their homes their own, provided they remain within applicable laws and the safety and security standards necessary for everyone aboard. Our goal isn’t to sell a luxury lifestyle or disguise one as an affordable opportunity. We want to make residential cruising as accessible and attainable as possible, while understanding that a ship comes with unique financial and operational challenges. Maximizing profits at the expense of our residents is not a model this industry can sustain, so our pricing schema reflects that and we want everyone to understand both the higher costs for these opportunities and the risks before deciding whether this journey is right for them.
Fabled Voyages understands not everyone wants to be among the first to take the plunge.
